A headlong procession of dark berry fruits, vanilla bean, graphite, and coffee aromas march unimpededly to stimulate a festive olfactory occasion, followed by flavors of plum, barrel spice, and mocha. The mouthfeel is full and forward in the front, leading to a focused core and long generous finish. Fruit and warm baking spices dominate a finale that lingers long after each sip, leaving the impression of subtle, yet supportive, structure in harmony with the fruit.
Red cherries and black raspberry combine with aromas of damp turned earth and subtle hints of baking spice. The silky tannins that are characteristic of Meredith Mitchell vineyard are balanced by a bright, juicy acidity.
Rich aromas of cherry and vanilla embrace tones of orange zest and graphite. Marionberry waltzes across the palate, carrying impressions of subtle cedar and iron. The juicy entry blossoms into a rich mid-palate with fine, well-integrated tannins, leading to a round, full finish.
Cana’s Feast Chinato D’Erbetti, created by winemaker Patrick Taylor, was inspired by the historic Barolo Chinatos made in Piedmont, and was guided by tradition. Combining time-honored methods in making vermouth, mixed with classic naturopathic extraction-processes for herbal medicines, it has its roots in old-world traditions & folk remedies, as well as gutsy vision & boot-strapping innovation. Infused with over 18 different herbs, spices, and aromatic plants, the base-wine is our own Nebbiolo, barrel-aged for years giving the Chinato a solid foundation. It is then fortified with un-aged brandy distilled by Portland’s Clear Creek Distillery. It’s hand-bottled and made in very small, 30-50 case batches to ensure excellent quality. Try a short pour after dinner as a digestivo or enjoy it mixed into your favorite cocktail.
